Many of us in the rail fan community might be thinking – what are the features and specs of the locomotive. So let’s find it out. Nomenclature: W  – Wide/Broad Gauge D  – Diesel Powered G  – Goods load 4  – Class Type G  – GE (Manufacturer) The ES43ACmi (Indian Railways’ class – WDG4G) locomotive, painted in a distinctive red and yellow pattern, is the first of 1,000 diesel freight locomotives that GE Transportation will deliver to Indian Railways as part of a $2.5 billion order. The bright colors hold special meaning in India with red representing energy and yellow representing freshness. Before the mass production of locomotives at Marhowara (Bihar) few locomotives are been produced and tested in USA. This project comes under the  Make in India  initiative. About – Trainsets

In India we are familiar to only on system of trains that is a locomotive leading the coaches (I say it as  leading power system ). This system is neither safe,fast nor efficient. For the replacement of these few countries have introduced  Trainset System.  Trainset system train used in paris. What are Trainsets? Trainsets are just coaches having their own traction motors for each pair of wheels which are controlled by a controller system present in the first and/or last coach in the set. Why they are fast? It is quite simple to answer this. The individual traction motors makes the power distribution good so the momentum transfer from locomotive to coaches is not required hence the speed becomes good. Other features Good Acceleration :  Because they have individual traction motors they are good in acceleration. Special Rajdhani Express from New Delhi to Mumbai, no flexi -fare for it.

The Railways introduced a new Special  Bandra-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express thrice a week (M W F) from. October 17,2017 and for the return journey i.e Hazrat Nizamuddin-Bandra Rajdhani Express (T T S) from October 18,2017. The Inaugural Special shall run from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Bandra Terminus  tomorrow i.e. October 16,2017 at 04:15 pm (1615 hrs) . Key Points : This train will have stoppages at Kota, Vadodara and Surat stations only. Comprises of  1 first AC ,  2 second AC   and  12 third AC coaches and 1 pantry car . Fare will be 20% more than Rajdhani Base Fare. The train shall not have the flexi-fare system unlike any other Rajdhanis. The power (locomotive) of the train would be twin WAP 5 . India – Switzerland MoU on cooperation in Rail sector.

In the cabinet meeting held today (04 October, 2017) decision on MoU between India and Switzerland in the rail sector was been apprised. The major points of the Memorandum of Understanding between Ministry of Railways, Govt. of India and Federal department of Environment,Transport, Energy and Communication of Swiss Confederation which was been signed on 31 st August, 2017 : Tilting Trains :  Tilting trains that are really prominent for high speed in Switzerland and other countries which used the technology. The Tilting trains have a unique feature of tilting of the coach while the wheels and bogie remain on track, so the train must not be slowed on a curve. EMU and rolling stock :  The modern EMU and rolling stock manufactured in Switzerland would be manufactured in India with the sharing of technologies. Key points of the high level meeting chaired by the Minister of Railways

Highlights :   The Minister of Railways chaired a high level meeting on saturday. The blog contains some of the major decisions took by him: 1.  Foot Overbridges (FOBs), platforms and pathways on platform end  to be treated as Safety items having highest priority with no restriction of budget. Earlier only the first FOB at a station was considered as essential and subsequent as passenger amenity. 2. For next 18 months, General Managers of Railway zones have been delegated powers without limit for Safety related issues. They shall intimate Financial Commissioner (FC) within a week of sanction for provision, and FC shall confirm the same within 15 days. In case of disagreement, the matter shall be put up to the Railway Board for final decision within the same 15 days. 3. Additional Escalators sanctioned at stations of the Mumbai Suburban system having high footfall with the details to be finalised within 15 days. Stampede at Elphinstone Railway station Mumbai!!

At least 22 people were killed and total 39 people injured in a stampede at Elphinstone railway station’s foot over bridge. Stampede occurred when a heavy rain shower came and people looked to take roof of the shed of Foot over bridge and rumors did the rest of the harm. Blocking of Debit Card payments of few banks by IRCTC – totally fake news!!

The news about the blocking of debit cards of few banks for payment in IRCTC is proved to be totally fake and payment could be done using any card using any bank’s gateway. Fake news that was been spread in last few hours. IRCTC has made it clear that it was never been done and also have given statements abiut how to use gateway of banks in the payment section. There has been a revision in the charges for usage of debit cards in the gateways like ICICI, AXIS Payment gateway , Paytm or Payu to be –   0.25%   for transactions upto   Rs.1000/- ,   0.5%   for transactions   above   Rs.1000   and upto   2000/-   and   1.0%   for   above Rs. 2000   value transactions.
